Hyderabad: Amid cold wave gripping Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the last two days, the India Meteorological Department has predicted light rains in both states on tuesday.
According to a Regional Meteorological Department in Amaravati, winds from the northeast and east are blowing at low altitudes in Andhra Pradesh. The IMD has forecast three days of rain in the state starting Tuesday. Light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
There have been slight changes in the climate on the southern coast. The cold intensity gradually increases in some places as the minimum temperatures drop. The minimum temperature was recorded in Visakhapatnam and Vijayanagaram districts. The lowest temperature was recorded at 17.4 degrees in Kalingapatnam, 18.5 degrees in Nandigama, 18.7 degrees in Bapatla, 18.8 degrees in Visakhapatnam and 19 degrees in Jangameshwarapuram, officials said.
Rayalaseema area in Andhra Pradesh will receive moderate rains today. The Amravati Meteorological Department has forecast rains till January 14. As a result, temperatures dropped slightly. The minimum temperature was recorded at 18 degrees in Arogyavaram, 19 degrees in Anantapur, 20.8 degrees in Nandyal and 20.7 degrees in Kurnool.
Heavy rains have been falling in Telangana for the last two days. On the other hand, the Hyderabad Meteorological Department said that strong winds blew at low altitudes. The state will likely receive light to moderate rains for another two to three days.
Hailstorms are also likely to occur at Mulugu, Bhadradri, Kottagudem, Khammam, Adilabad, Komarambhim, Asifabad, Nirmal, Manchiryala, Jayashankar, Bhupalpally, Nalgonda, and Jagittala districts in Telangana State, officials said.
