Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Revanth Reddy was put under house arrest on Friday in Hyderabad. Revanth Reddy was supposed to arrive at Osmania University for a protest against the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case.
"The United Students Union called for a protest today at the OU Arts College in relation to the TSPSC paper leak issue. Heavy police have been deployed at the residence of the TPCC chief and barricades have been set up," Banjara Hills ACP Sridhar told ANI.
The protest was planned by the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee. The police, however, denied permission for the agitation. Police have also placed under house arrest other Congress leaders like Addanki Dayakar, Mallu Ravi and leaders of JAC.
Taking to Twitter, Revanth Reddy condemned the house arrest. He said instead of sending police to house arrest him, Chief Minister KCR and minister KTR should come forward for a debate on the TSPSC question paper leak in the presence of Osmania University students.
On Thursday, several TPCC leaders were under house arrest before Revanth Reddy appeared at the SIT office to submit evidence in connection with the TSPSC question paper leak case. Senior Congress leader Hanumantha Rao, former MP Mallu Ravi, Mahila Congress president Sunitha Rao, NSUI Hyderabad president Motha Rohit, and many others were placed under house arrest.
