Telangana BJP Chief G Kishan Reddy strongly objected to the appointment of Akbaruddin Owaisi as the Pro tem Speaker of the state Assembly. Emphasizing the tradition of appointing a senior leader as Pro tem Speaker, he criticized the Congress for choosing Owaisi, alleging a political understanding with AIMIM. He also demanded a reconsideration of the Pro Tem Speaker.

AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took oath as Pro Tem Speaker during the first session of the state Legislative Assembly on Saturday. As a Pro Tem Speaker, Owaisi will serve in a temporary role until the Speaker is elected.

Addressing a press conference, Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy said, "We have won 8 seats and reached 14% vote percentage in the state...There is a ritual of appointing a senior leader as pro-tem Speaker. However, Congress has appointed Akbaruddin Owaisi to the post due to their understanding with AIMIM."

"We object to this. We demand that the election of the Assembly Speaker should not happen with this Pro-tem Speaker. We will tell the same to the State Governor," he said, as per ANI.
