The Telangana State Women Commission on Monday issued a notice to BJP State President Bandi Sanjay for his objectionable comments on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha. The Women's Commission also directed him to appear before it at 11 a.m. on Wednesday for an inquiry.

The State Women Commission had taken suo moto cognizance of Sanjay Kumar's comments on the BRS MLC. The State Women Commission Chairperson, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, instructed Director General of Police Anjani Kumar to conduct an investigation and submit a report on the entire incident.

On Saturday, BRS workers and supporters along with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal protested against Bandi Sanjay over his remarks on K Kavitha. BRS leaders lodged complaints against him at various places stations in the state.

Sanjay during an interview had made derogatory remarks against Kavitha. According to ABP Desam reports, when asked if Kavitha will be jailed in the Delhi liquor scam, the BJP chief told reporters, "Would they kiss her if not arrest her?"

Faced with criticism for making 'derogatory' remarks about BRS MLC K Kavitha, Bandi Sanjay's office issued a clarification, stating that the BJP leader's statement was a common phrase used in the Telugu language, which means whether you would appreciate or punish someone who commits a crime.

On Saturday, Kavitha appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Case. She was summoned again by the ED on March 16.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in February in the same case. Sisodia was arrested in connection with alleged corruption charges in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. The matter escalated further when the ED also placed him under arrest earlier this week.

He resigned from the government following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26.
