The National Medical Commission (NMC) has accorded permission to six government medical colleges in Telanagana to start classes from the academic year 2023-24. Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao, in a tweet, said the approval process for Nirmal, Karimnagar and Sircilla Medical Colleges has reached the final stage.
"Delighted to share that, out of 9 medical colleges to be started this year, 6 medical colleges already have got permission, i.e., Jangaon, Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Bhupalpally. The approval process of Nirmal, Karimnagar and Sircilla Medical Colleges reached the final stage,"Harish Rao said in a tweet.
The minister further said the Telangana government was briskly moving forward in setting up one medical college per district towards Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's vision of "Arogya Telangana".
The commission has approved 100 MBBS seats each in these colleges. Harish Rao also shared the NMC's letters of permission on Twitter.

Meanwhile, at a review meeting with officials on Wednesday, Harish Rao said the prestigious 2,000-bed multi-super specialty hospital at Warangal, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,100 crore, should be ready for inauguration by Dussehra, Telangana Today reported.
He said that work was progressing quickly on other large-scale healthcare projects, including nine medical colleges, three TIMS hospitals across Hyderabad, and eight teaching hospitals. The minister stated that these projects were on track and should be finished by the end of the year.
He also asked the officials to ensure the construction quality of the medical infrastructure projects was maintained.
