Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer, Vikas Raj, on Sunday directed district election officers to verify the complaints received about alleged discrepancies in the voters' list in four assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad, IANS reported. He has asked them to put special emphasis on the detailed verification of every aspect of the received complaints, take corrective measures, and submit detailed reports. The CEO held a thorough review meeting with the District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and enquiry officers in relation to complaints received in the Bahadurpura, Goshamahal, Nampally, and Serilingampally constituencies.


The CEO also conducted a video conference with all DEOs, EROs, and AEROs, reviewing the progress of the ongoing second Special Summary Revision (SSR).

All districts were asked to put in maximum effort and to concentrate on registering voters in the 18–19 age range, and in particular in the 18-19 gender cohort. He also stressed the need of include transgender people and sex workers as well as identifying voters with disabilities (PwD) on the voting roll.

According to a statement from the CEO's office, he issued comprehensive instructions to all DEOs, AROs, and AEROs to adhere to different methods of campaigning to attract the youth, particularly those aged 18-19, to enroll as voters. The CEO directed all the District Election Officers to improve voter participation and voting percentage in the upcoming assembly elections.

Additionally, the Chief Electoral Officer instructed the DEOs to promptly attend to the complaints forwarded from the CEO's office and ECI, and to send factual reports to the CEO's office without delay. The Chief Electoral Officer further instructed all DEOs to immediately establish a separate team to handle election-related complaints.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Lokesh Kumar, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Sarfaraz Ahmad, and ACEOs participated in the special meeting and the video conference.

Assembly elections in Telangana are scheduled to be held in November-December.
