Hyderabad: With the Godavari river brimming with flood water in Telangana's Bhadrachalam the authorities issued a second danger warning as the water level was last seen crossing the 48-foot mark and reaching 50 feet. The water level was at 43.5 feet on Tuesday evening and rose to 48 feet at midnight on Wednesday. Officials issued the first flood warning at 43 feet, and when the flood flow reached 48 feet, the second flood warning was issued. The people in the catchment areas have been alerted. 


Officials said the water level was 49.3 feet at 5 am and reached 49.8 feet at 7 am on Wednesday.


The flood flow of the Godavari river has been gradually increasing since Tuesday. The authorities will issue a third danger warning if the water level reaches 53 feet. Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector Anudeep asked the people of Bhadrachalam, Dummugudem, Ashwaraopeta, Cherla, Burgampadu, Edulla Bayyaram, Pinapaka, Sarapaka villages to be careful.


People living in low-lying areas should be relocated to safer areas as quickly as possible, according to directives given to the authorities. The collector issued the order to make the necessary preparations for the public.


Heavy Flooding At Jurala Dam


Heavy flood water to the Jurala project as the incoming of rain water accounts for 1.61 lakh cusecs. With this the authorities have lifted 37 gates of the project and released 1.46 lakh cusecs of water. While 8.126 TMC of water is stored in the project currently, the maximum water storage capacity of the project is 9.65 TMC.


Officials issued a warning on Tuesday, advising residents of the riverfront villages to exercise caution after 1.58 lakh cusecs of water were released into the Tungabhadra river. Heavy downpour in the higher regions in Karnataka, the flood water flow in the Tungabhadra dam has increased, and the water has been released downstream, said officials.
