Telangana Joins Other States In Opposing Centre's IAS Cadre Rule Change, CM KCR Expresses 'Strong Protest'

Calling the proposed amendment "draconian", several non-BJP ruled states have opposed the Centre's plan regarding the IAS cadre rule change

New Delhi: After Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlot, MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu and Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala, Chhattisgarh's Bhupesh Baghel, Jharkhand's Hemant Soren, Telangana's KCR have written to PM Modi to scrap IAS cadre rule change. Telangana CM KCR expressed a "strong protest" against the Centre's new plans for IAS Transfers.

In a letter to PM Modi, KCR said, "The proposed amendment militate against the federal structure of our constitution. Further, the proposed amendment will seriously erode the All India Service character of the IAS, IPS and IFS. Telangana State Government. therefore, strongly oppose the proposed amendment."

Calling the proposed amendment "draconian", several non-BJP ruled states have opposed the Centre's plan regarding the IAS cadre rule change. In the new IAS cadre change rule, the Centre has given the power to itself to appoint and transfer IAS and IPS officers.

KCR further in the letter said, "The proposal clearly a move to exercise indirect control by the Centre on officers working in the state. It amounts to interfering in the functioning of the state government, targeted harassment of the officers and demoralisation, besides impacting accountability of officers to the state government. It would also render state governments as helpless entities in matters of ALL India Services officers."
