Hyderabad: Hyderabad is one of the contenders to host the Formula E world championship, which is an electric car race.
Formula E Association, Telangana State Government and Greenco have entered into a tripartite agreement to manage the Formula E race in Hyderabad. The event was held at the Kakatiya Hotel in Hyderabad on Monday.
The difference between Formula E and Formula 1 is that there will be no need to build a separate track for Formula E races. Instead, the race can take place on city streets. The crew has been to the Hussainsagar circle of Tank Bund and Necklace road, the circular path encircling KBR Park in Jubilee Hills, and the financial district road in Gachibowli.
The Telangana government has agreed to make special arrangements to that extent. The government will provide facilities required for the management of the tournament.
Formula E world championship has been held across the world since 2014. The town of Diriyah in Saudi Arabia will be the venue for the competitions for the eighth season and the circuits to be covered in cities like London, New York, Mexico, Berlin, Rome, Seoul, Vancouver. Now Hyderabad has got the opportunity.
According to sources, Metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore also competed to host the race. However, the initiative taken by the Telangana government seems to have finally chosen Hyderabad as the local conditions are favourable. However, Anand Mahindra has teams in Formula E races.
