History : On July 1, 2013, the Congress Working Committee passed a resolution in support of the formation of Telangana as a separate state. After various stages, the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 bill was passed in Parliament in February 2014 for the formation of the Telangana state. Following parliamentary approval, the bill was sent to the President of India for his assent. President Pranab Mukherjee signed the bill on March 1, 2014, officially granting his approval.
As a result, Telangana became the 29th state of India, separate from the existing state of Andhra Pradesh. The formation of Telangana was officially recognised on June 2, 2014, which is celebrated as Telangana Formation Day. This marked the culmination of the long-standing demand for separate statehood for the Telangana region.
