New Delhi: Amid an increase of Covid cases in Telangana, the state Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Sunday tweeted the government's decision of extending the vacations for all educational institutions except for medical colleges in the state till January 30.


This comes a fortnight after the government has declared holidays for all the schools and colleges from January 8-16. According to the earlier decision by the Telangana government, all the schools and colleges in the state are slated to resume functioning from Monday (January 17). But now the vacations have been extended till Sunday (January 30).

Subsequently, after the government has announced holidays, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) has announced that online classes would continue till the end of the month and dropped a hint that the Mid-Term examination could be conducted online.






Meanwhile, on Saturday, the state has recorded 1,963 new Coronavirus cases. The active caseload in Telangana has surged to over 22,000 of which nearly 17,000 cases are reported in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
