With the conclusion of nomination withdrawals on Wednesday, the stage is set for the impending assembly elections in Telangana. Numerous Congress and other prominent party leaders initially running as independents due to ticket unavailability, have withdrawn their nominations, opting to support the official candidates, according to party sources.
Election officials in Telangana have found 2,898 nominations of candidates for the November 30 assembly elections to be valid before withdrawal, and rejected nominations of 606 candidates during scrutiny.
According to PTI, Telangana boasts more than 3.26 crore eligible voters with a nearly equal distribution between men and women. The Serilingampally segment leads with the highest voter count surpassing 7.32 lakh while Bhadrachalam records the lowest at 1.49 lakh electors.

Meanwhile, the political parties have intensified the campaign. Several prominent leaders including PM Modi, union ministers, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi are set to visit the state for an intense campaign.
Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao is also undertaking whirlwind tours as part of campaigning for BRS candidates.
The BRS has fielded candidates in all 119 seats while its “friendly party” Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM is contesting in nine seats.
Actor Pawan Kalyan's Janasena, the BJP's pre-election partner in the NDA, was given eight seats. As part of seat sharing, Congress gave one seat to CPI.
Telangana leaders including KCR, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and senior BJP leader Etala Rajender are contesting in two segments each.
On December 3, the votes from the election on November 30 will be counted.
