New Delhi: Eight people, including six women were killed and 20 others were injured in a road accident where a lorry collided with a mini truck in Kamareddy district in Telangana on Sunday evening. According to reports, the road accident took place around 5pm in Yellareddy mandal in the district.


As per a report by news agency PTI, the accident took place when the driver of the lorry took the wrong side of the road and rammed into the mini truck coming from the opposite direction.


Two people died on the spot, while three others succumbed on their way to the hospital, Kamareddy District Superintendent of Police B Srinivas Reddy told PTI.


Those who sustained injuries have been admitted to the hospital and further investigation on the matter is underway, police said.


Two weeks back, three persons, including a child, were killed and two others sustained serious injuries, when a speeding car hit a motorcycle on Gudibanda bypass flyover on the outskirts of Kodad town of Suryapet in the southern state.


The impact of the accident was such that a couple and one of their children flew off the flyover and fell on the ground, resulting in instant death. Two other children of the deceased couple were critically injured as per reports.


Earlier, last month, four women farm labourers were killed and 20 others were injured when a truck rammed the auto trolley they were travelling in, at Mandaripeta outskirts in Shayampet Mandal of Hanamkonda district.
