Telangana Congress Leaders Under House Arrest For Protest Over Police Raid On War Room

In response to the police raid on the party war room in Hyderabad, the Congress had instructed the cadres to hold demonstrations at every mandal headquarters.

Several Congress leaders were placed under house arrest by the Telangana Police on Wednesday. This came after the Telangana Congress called for a protest against cybercrime police raids at the office of Congress poll strategist Sunil Kanugolu in Hyderabad. 

In response to the police raid on the party war room in Hyderabad, the Congress had instructed the cadres to hold demonstrations at every Mandal headquarters.

The office of political consultancy ‘Inclusive Minds', which is involved in poll strategies for the Congress party in 5 states, including Telangana and Karnataka, was raided based on a complaint filed against a few social media pages run by the company. 

On Tuesday night, Cyberabad Cybercrime detectives conducted a raid at Sunil's office following complaints that posts denigrating content against the Telangana government were being posted from that premises.

Congress MP and in charge of party affairs in Telangana, Manickam Tagore alleged that the Telangana Congress war room headed by Sunil was raided. He alleged that five of the professional partners were arrested illegally without an FIR. He claimed that police took away 50 computers and that data was stolen.

Tagore posted on Twitter the controversial posts for which war room was raided. He dared Telangana chief minister to arrest him.

According to IANS, State Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy stated that the cyber police terrorising the staff at the Congress war room demonstrates KCR's fear of Congress.A He said it was an irony that KCR, his son, and his daughter have all been preaching about democracy and freedom of speech in recent times.

Four to five policemen in plainclothes had entered the office on Tuesday night and asked the staffers to switch off their mobile phones. Learning about this, senior leader Shabbir, Mallu Ravi, and others reached there and questioned the police officers. One of the officers told them that five FIRs were registered for posting derogatory comments.

The Congress leaders wanted to know who the complainants were and insisted that the police produce the FIRs.
