After Anumula Revanth Reddy, who helped Congress dethrone K Chandrashekar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi, took oath as the second Chief Minister of Telangana in Hyderabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him and said that all possible support would be assured to Telangana.
PM took to X and said, "Congratulations to Shri Revanth Reddy Garu on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana. I assure all possible support to further the progress of the state and the welfare of its citizens."
The oath ceremony was held in Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad in the presence of Gandhi family. CPI general secretary D Raja, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who undertook a key 100-day padayatra in March, was sworn-in as deputy CM of Telangana. Former state Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, C Damodar Rajanarasimha, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu also took oath as ministers as Telangana saw a regime change from the BRS for the first time since being formed in 2014.
Apart from the Gandhis, CPI general secretary D Raja, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Meanwhile, iron barricades in front of the CM’s office, Pragathi Bhavan, in Telangana, where CM K. Chandrashekar Rao used to stay, were removed on Thursday. Earlier during the campaign, Revanth Reddy had said that he would remove it after Congress came to power. The fence on Begumpet main road had caused a traffic bottleneck, and it was removed following a request from civil society groups.
