Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday directed officials to open 7,000 paddy procurement centres across the state immediately to purchase paddy from farmers who cultivated it during the Yasangi (Rabi) season. He instructed Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari and Civil Supplies Commissioner Anil Kumar to take immediate action. The Chief Minister requested the officers to open all 7,000 paddy procurement centres and initiate the paddy purchasing process, as was done previously.
Union Tourism Minister Urges Central Govt To Procure 15 Lakh MT Of Parboiled Rice From Telangana
Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy urged Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday to procure 15 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of parboiled rice from Telangana. Kishan Reddy stated that the central government's support for the farmers of Telangana is evident since a significant number of farmers have benefited from the Department of Food and Public Distribution's procurement operations.
Reddy said procurement in Telangana had increased from 5.35 lakh MT in 2015–2016 during the Kharif marketing season to over 20 lakhs in the previous Kharif season.

Free Eye Tests Conducted For One Crore People In Telangana Under 'Kanti Velugu' Program
Health authorities in Telangana have conducted free eye tests for more than one crore people under the second phase of the 'Kanti Velugu' scheme aimed at addressing avoidable blindness in the state. Since the launch of the second phase in January, 1,500 medical teams have examined 1,01,65,529 people, including 47,70,757 men, 53,852 women, and 3,360 transgender people. Officials said 64.07% of the target has been reached, and the second phase aims to cover 1.5 crore people. Free reading glasses were distributed to 16.33 lakh people, while 12.31 lakh people required prescription glasses.
Almost 73 lakh people were diagnosed without any eye problems. Officials stated that people of all ages, including young men and women and the elderly, actively participate in the Kanti Velugu camps being held in the districts.
