Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday stated that for India to progress, people need peace and harmony where the well-being of all citizens can be assured.
Speaking after inaugurating the newly built Integrated District Offices Complex at Mahabubabad district CM said "Our country should go forward with peace, tolerance, and people's welfare. It will all descend into hell and we'll witness a Taliban-like situation and an Afghanistan-like situation in this country if we continue to promote religious intolerance and divide people."
KCR, as Rao is popularly known, urged people to get involved in the work being done by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserting that Telangana is providing the rest of the nation with a growth model.
CM KCR criticised the Centre for not performing on par with Telangana and stated that due to the Central government's failures, Telangana lost a GSDP of over Rs.3 lakh crore as against its current GSDP of Rs.11.5 lakh crore.
He blamed the union government for failing to resolve a 20-year-old dispute between riparian states over Krishna river water-sharing. But the Telangana government went ahead as it was determined to complete the irrigation projects, he added.
The Chief Minister also sanctioned funds to the Mahabubabad district. He allocated Rs.10 lakh each for all the 461-gram panchayats in the district along with Rs.50 crore to Mahabubabad municipality.
