Five people were killed in a collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Telangana’s Warangal district on Wednesday.The accident took place near Yellanda village in Wardhannapet mandal, IANS reported. Five individuals who were traveling in the auto-rickshaw lost their lives, and two others sustained critical injuries. According to the police, four individuals died at the scene, while the fifth person succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
After being informed by the local residents, the police promptly arrived at the scene and transferred the injured individuals to the nearest hospital. The condition of both injured individuals is reported to be critical.
The auto-rickshaw was coming from Warangal to Thorrur when it collided with a truck approaching from the opposite direction. Police suspected that the truck driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, which led to the accident. The police have apprehended the driver, who hails from Rajasthan. The deceased and injured individuals were involved in the business of selling honey.
In another earlier accident, a speeding car, allegedly driven by an intoxicated passenger, led to the loss of three lives on Rushikonda Beach Road, in the jurisdiction of Arilova Police Station in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The car, carrying a group of young individuals, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, collided with a divider and a tree before striking a motorbike on the opposite side of the road. The couple on the motorbike, identified as Prithvi Raj (28) and Priyanka (21) from Odisha, lost their lives on the spot. Prithvi Raj was employed as a site engineer in a Visakhapatnam-based company.
In the aftermath, one of the car's six occupants suffered severe injuries and succumbed on the spot. The deceased, Manikumar (25), was sitting in the rear side of the vehicle.
