Switzerland-based Roche Pharma has set up a state-of-the-art Global Analytics and Technology Centres of Excellence (GATE) in Hyderabad, the second one in India. Roche Pharma India MD and CEO V Simpson Emmanuel met with Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday.

Speaking on occasion, Minister KTR said that Roche Pharma is proud to have chosen Hyderabad to establish its Global Capability Centers.

IT and Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Shakthi M Nagappan, Director of Life Sciences, Telangana government, were also present.

Minister KTR spoke about Hyderabad's vibrant ecosystem when he met Roche Chairman Christoph Franz at the World Economic Forum in 2020 and this year in May.

The Telangana minister said Hyderabad is the preferred location for global innovation and capability centres because it has one of the best state-supported business ecosystems in the nation and offers a distinctive combination of a highly skilled talent pool, cutting-edge infrastructure, and the best quality of living in the nation.

Roche Pharma India MD, Emmanuel said the centres like GATE would also benefit the country by building a knowledge base in rapidly emerging areas of data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

"Unstructured, vast volumes of data are being produced today. It needs to be analysed for actionable insights. GATE assists Roche with project management over the product lifecycle, including the pre-clinical, launch, growth, maturity, and decline phases. GATE will also assist in better retention of intellectual property, optimising costs without compromising in quality while building strong expertise in the talent pool," he said.
