Telangana's senior Congress leader Mallu Ravi on Monday alleged that many party leaders are placed under house arrest by the police, despite having prior permission for the Sarpanch Dharna to be held by TPCC Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan at Indira Park in Hyderabad.

He condemned the house arrests and demanded that the Congress leaders should be released immediately and allowed to participate in the dharna.

Senior Congress leader Jeevan Reddy on Monday alleged that the Telangana government is making illegal arrests while defending the rights of Gram Panchayats. He said that Congress will approach the court regarding the actions against the police.

Jeevan Reddy expressed anger over the arrest of TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy. He said that Congress Party will stand by the sarpanches and continue to fight until the BRS government releases funds to gram panchayats.

Mallu Ravi on Sunday condemned the attack on the party workers allegedly by the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) members, according to a Times of India report.

Ravi said the Congress workers were attacked when they tried to visit the Markandeya project in the Nagarkurnool district.

"The incident took place on Saturday when former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy of the Congress-led a delegation to the Markandeya project," Mallu Ravi said as per TOI.

The Congress is taking the matter to DGP Anjani Kumar's attention to demand harsh punishment for those responsible for the attack and protection of the Congress members.
