A Chennai-bound flight from Hyderabad got a hoax bomb threat at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Monday. However, after the airport security evacuated the flight and checked, it was learnt that a passenger, who got delayed made a hoax call. Hyderabd Police took the passenger into custody for making a hoax bomb call.


The accused has been identified as Ajmira Bhadraiah, who is working as a senior engineer in Chennai. According to news agency ANI, he arrived late at the airport, the airline staff did not allow him. With this, the police confirmed that he had made this threatening call. He was detained.


"A Chennai-Hyd flight today received a hoax bomb threat call at RGI International airport. The airport security checked the flight evacuating the passengers. The hoax call was made by a passenger as he got delayed to catch the flight. Accused passenger was taken into custody," Police said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Earlier in the day, the Deogarh-bound IndiGo flight got a bomb threat and diverted the flight, operating from Delhi to Deogarh, to Lucknow. The relevant security processes were followed, according to the national carrier, and the aircraft was cleared for flight.


IndiGo, in a statement, said: "All necessary security protocols were followed & the aircraft was cleared for takeoff. IndiGo is following the rules of the security agencies in the probe."


"The flight landed safely at 12:20 pm and was taken to the isolation bay. Airport security followed necessary checks to verify the threat & after proper probe, the threat turned out to be hoax &the aircraft was released for onward journey," Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport stated in an issued statement, ANI reported.
