An 18-year-old girl was kidnapped by a group of four unidentified people in front of her father in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The girl was kidnapped while she was returning to her house after visiting a temple with her father. The incident occurred in Moodepalle village of Chandurthi mandal.
Police said a case has been filed in the matter, and three special teams have been formed to find the accused and locate the missing girl.
"A case has been registered, and we are making all efforts to trace them. Four people are involved in the incident. The girl had eloped with her lover in the past. Now that she has become an adult, he (her lover) might have taken her.Three teams have been formed to nab them," said Vemulawada DSP, Nagendra Chary, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The girl's family members suspect the involvement of K. John, a youth from the same village.
According to the villagers, the suspect had eloped with the girl a year ago. As she was a minor, the police booked the accused under the POCSO Act on a complaint by the girl's family.The police later brought the accused and the girl to the village, and since then they had not met each other.
The girl's family recently arranged for her to marry another man.
Earlier, a group of people allegedly barged into the house of a 24-year-old woman and kidnapped her in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana on Friday. The family members also said that they were reportedly attacked by the miscreants. However, with the help of the police, the woman was later rescued after a six-hour search operation. The police also arrested sixteen accused under various sections of IPC.
The parents alleged that the youngsters armed with sticks entered the house and ransacked the house. The gang damaged some parked vehicles, too, according to CCTV visuals.
