Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday urged people not to panic because of the surge in Covid-19 cases in China and other countries. However, he advised them to be vigilant.


Based on the advice of the Centre, Harish Rao conducted a high-level review meeting on Covid preparedness through zoom.


Durng the meeting the health minister said, "There is no need to worry about COVID-19 but there is a need to be alert. Everyone is advised to observe personal hygiene and those who have not taken the covid vaccine should take it immediately and take a booster dose".






Medical and Health Secretary Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi, Family Welfare Commissioner Shweta Mohanty, Director of Public Health G Srinivasa Rao, Director of Medical Education Ramesh Reddy and other officials attended the meeting.

During the meet, officials explained to the minister the spread and impact of Corona Omicron variant BF7 in various countries.


Harish Rao also instructed officials that the samples of positive cases in Telangana be sent to the State-run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for genome sequencing in line with the Centre's guidelines. He also ordered screening of passengers at the airport.


Although there hasn't been a Coronavirus outbreak in the state, he urged the authorities to thoroughly examine everything. He requested that staff members to make sure that medication, oxygen, and ICU beds are available at all times.


The Minister said that Telangana has a good experience of handling Covid-19 and is ready to face any circumstances.
