Chennai: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleged that the Centre did not allow Pfizer, a vaccine manufacturer, to enter India. He also said that even while the public wanted to get the best vaccine, people also wanted to buy it, yet the company was stopped forcefully.


According to ANI, Telangana CM and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said, “#WATCH | There is a company namely Pfizer, which manufactures vaccines, it was stopped from entering India during COVID-19. No matter how hard the company tried but they (govt) didn't allow them to come here. What was the reason?”


“While the public wanted to get the best vaccine, people also wanted to buy it, yet the company was stopped forcefully. We also tried, many Chief Ministers also had talks with PMO and Niti Aayog but they (Govt) didn't allow them (Pfizer) to come,” he said.





The statement of the Chief Minister has come at a time when there are various controversies surrounding the vaccine and Pfizer's CEO.

However, there are also several other reasons for India's refusal to permit Pfizer vaccines. When Pfizer applied for clearance in 2020, the Indian regulators reportedly told them to conduct a local safety study which is common across the world. However, Pfizer refused to do it. The vaccine maker also requested legal immunity against injury for which India denied to provide permission, as per a report on The Daily Guardian.
