Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K Kavitha was produced before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court following her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday in connection with Delhi liquor policy case. She appeared before special judge MK Nagpal at the Rouse Avenue Courts on Saturday.

Kavitha appearing before Rouse Avenue Court said, "My arrest is illegal. We will fight it in court."

Kavitha's arrest by the ED came shortly after the agency along with the Income Tax department conducted searches at her residence in Hyderabad. At the time of Kavitha's arrest, BRS working president KT Rama Rao, former minister Harish Rao and others accompanied by a number of party workers assembled at Kavitha's residence. They showed solidarity with their leader and raised slogans in support of her.

Later, she was brought to Delhi on Friday night. The security was beefed up outside ED office in Delhi and doctors arrived at the probe agency's office on Saturday. As part of the procedure, the agency reportedly conducted a brief interrogation of the person under arrest before preparing the necessary documents for court submission to request custody.

Earlier, ED leveled allegations against Kavitha, suggesting her involvement with a "South Group" lobby of liquor traders aiming to exert influence over the now-repealed Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. In December 2022, the CBI summoned her as a witness, focusing on her associations with individuals such as P Sarath Chandra Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma and Gurugram-based businessman Amit Arora.

Kavitha also faced inquiries regarding her frequent changes in cell phone devices.
