Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rains would occur in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next two to three days due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Low pressure intensifies, and its impact will be in Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Central Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas. The surface ridge extends to a height of 7.6 km and is inclined towards the southwest. Officials said this low pressure will likely turn into a severe cyclone by today or tomorrow.
The Meteorological department has announced a red alert in some places and orange and yellow alert in some districts that there will be heavy to very heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has said that heavy to very heavy rains will occur in the Telangana state for the next three days under the influence of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. An orange alert has been issued for Komaram Bhim Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nalgonda, Mahabubabad, Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural districts.

A yellow alert has been issued in Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna-Siricilla, Khammam, Suryapet, Janagaon, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Mahbubnagar districts.
The Amaravati Meteorological Department has said that moderate rains will occur in the combined Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna and Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh till August 10. Thunder and lightning rains will also occur in Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur and Chittoor districts of Rayalaseema. People have been warned that winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km and the low-lying areas will be flooded.
