Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief of Telangana unit, faced stiff resistance from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers while on his tour to Nalgonda and Suryapet districts on Monday.

Sanjay was on his way to take stock of the paddy procurement issues ailing the farmers of the districts when the TRS workers hurled stones and eggs at the BJP leader's convoy.

Staging a protest at Arjala Bhavi village, the TRS activists tried to obstruct Sanjay's visit with black flags and raised the slogans - "Bandi Sanjay go back." The BJP workers, who came there in large numbers to welcome Sanjay, clashed with the TRS workers, resulting in jostling between the two parties.

While TRS activists threw stones and eggs at the BJP leaders, the other side raised slogans against the local TRS MLA Bhopal Reddy and the TRS government. The BJP workers even held a roadside dharna demanding police to detain the TRS activists.

Police had to swing into action to bring the situation under control by dipersing the warring activists of both the parties.

Later, the Telangana BJP chief was able to make his way to the paddy procurement centre and assured the farmers that the crop would be procured by the Central government even during the Rabi season.
