Chennai: A fire broke out inside the under-construction Secretariat building in Hyderabad on Friday. Based on the information, the fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and put out the fire after five hours of struggle. However, no casualties were reported in the accident.
Hyderabad Police said, “Fire broke out inside under construction secretariat building in Hyderabad early morning today. 10 fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident.”
The fire reportedly originated from the lower floors of the building where wood and plastics were stored for the construction. However, there is no clarity yet on whether there was an electric short circuit that led to the fire in the building.
On Friday, the workers at the Secretariat building noticed smoke from the main complex and immediately alerted the fire tenders. The fire tenders rushed to service and put out the fire after a five-hour fight. District fire officer Srinivas Reddy, as per Siasat, said, ”We are ascertaining the actual reasons for the fire accident."

Meanwhile, BJP blamed the poor quality of work for the cause of the fire. The party also demanded the Telangana government to postpone the inauguration of the secretariat. As per a report on Indian Express, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay said, "All kinds of work including fire safety should be checked and measures should be taken to avoid any accidents.”
The secretariat building was scheduled to be inaugurated on the occasion of Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao’s birthday on February 17.
