K. Kavitha, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and daughter of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, wrote to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that she will appear before the ED on March 11 in the Delhi liquor scam. Kavitha wote the letter in response to the ED's notice asking her to appear before the agency on March 9.

Kavitha had apparently requested a week to appear but the ED rejected her request. Subsequently, she sent another letter.

According to an IANS report, a statement in this regard was issued from Kavitha's office late Wednesday night. "I, being a responsible Indian citizen and a woman of this nation, wish to exercise my rights provided under the law," she said.

"Further, I fail to understand why I have been summoned at such short notice. It seems that certain political motives have been masquerading as an investigation. I categorically say that I have nothing to do with the present investigation. As stated, being a social worker and having prior commitments, I had already planned my schedule for the upcoming week, and the abrupt rejection of my request seems to be motivated by reasons best known to you, which demonstrates that it is nothing but 'political victimisation," Kavitha said as quoted by IANS.

"However, without prejudice to my rights and contentions available in law as well as equity, as a true and law-abiding citizen of this country, I will appear at your good offices on March 11, 2023, as adamantly directed by you in the teeth of the laws mentioned hereinabove," she added.

On March 10, Kavitha will organise a daylong demonstration in Delhi against the Parliament's delay in passing the women's reservation law. She left for Delhi on Wednesday evening.

Bharath Jagruthi, along with opposition parties and women’s organisations from all across the country, will come together on March 10 at Jantar Mantar for a one-day peaceful hunger strike, demanding the BJP government introduce and pass the bill.
