Telangana Chief Minister and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy held a meeting with Congress senior leader Sonia Gandhi at her official residence on 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Monday. During the visit, Revanth Reddy appealed to Sonia Gandhi to consider contesting from Telangana in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.


The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, State Revenue, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy during the visit.


A release from the CM’s office said CM Revanth informed Sonia Gandhi that the PCC had already adopted a resolution urging her to contest from Telangana. He said that the people of Telangana treated Sonia Gandhi like their ‘ Mother’ for granting statehood and it is the appeal from all people to contest from the state for her to contest in the general election. 

In response, Sonia Gandhi reportedly informed the CM that she would take a decision at the right time.       


Further, the Chief Minister reportedly updated Sonia Gandhi on the status of the commitments made by the ruling Congress in the state. Two out of the six guarantees, namely free bus travel for women and an increase in the Arogyasri limits from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, have already been put into effect, he informed.


Additionally, the Chief Minister informed Sonia Gandhi that TPCC was actively working towards securing the highest number of MP seats in Telangana during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. All necessary preparations for the elections have already been concluded, and the party is currently accepting applications from potential candidates in each Lok Sabha constituency. The party's leadership will meticulously review the applications and choose the candidates best poised for success in the elections, he said, as per the CM's statement.
