Telangana Health and Finance Minister Harish Rao alleged on Sunday that the BJP is trying to fool the people of the Munugode Assembly constituency with false promises.

Harish Rao criticised the saffron party for pledging to increase monthly pension payments to different types of pensioners to Rs 3,000 if it wins the by-election. He remembered it had made a similar promise in the by-elections for Dubbak and Huzurabad.

Harish Rao said BJP won the Huzurabad and Dubbak seats, but the party never fulfilled its promise.s The BJP is now attempting to deceive the residents of Munugode after betraying the residents of the two constituencies, said Rao.

The finance minister questioned the BJP's failure to fulfill its pledge to provide Rs 3,000 as a social security pension in Dubbak and Huzurabad and to replace all assets lost in the 2020 floods.

He said that the social security pension amount is Rs 1,000 per month in Maharashtra, Rs 600 in Karnataka, and Rs 750 in Gujarat, all of which are BJP-ruled states, while it is Rs 2,106 in Telangana for individuals who fall in the bracket of Below Poverty Line and are over the age of 57. Besides, the Telangana government gives Rs 3,016 to those who are physically challenged.

The NITI Aayog suggested giving Telangana's Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya Rs 24,000 crore. However, the Centre has not granted even 24 paise, he continued.

Harish Rao said the Centre has still not allocated its share in Krishna river water to Telangana.
