Nearly 500 bikes were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at a bike showroom in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada on Thursday. However, there was no loss of life in the blaze, which was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.
The fire broke out in a TVS showroom and godown early Thursday morning, situated in the KP Nagar area adjacent to the Chennai-Kolkata national highway.
"When we reached, the showroom was entirely engulfed in fire and smoke. We controlled the fire in one and a half hours. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Out of 1000, 400-500 vehicles were gutted in the fire" said Sanakarao, District Fire Officer, to news agency ANI.
As per the Telangana Today report, the fire started from the first floor of the showroom and soon spread to adjoining godown. Security personnel informed the fire services and at least five fire engines rushed to the spot.

Earlier, a fire broke out in a private bus due to a technical fault in Prakasam district, as per ANI. The private bus, which was carrying 25 passengers, caught fire while it was passing through K Bitragunta village, fire department officials said, as per ANI's report. The bus was on its way from Hyderabad to Pondicherry on National Highway 16.
The driver immediately alerted the passengers, who made it out safely, the officials further informed. However, the luggage of the passengers got burnt in the blaze.
