Following Swiggy's lead, Zomato, a well-known online food delivery service in India, is introducing an exciting new feature designed to help users plan and pre-order their meals. Named "Order Scheduling," this functionality enables customers to have "full control over when their food arrives," allowing them to schedule deliveries anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days ahead of time.

Currently, this feature is accessible at over 35,000 restaurants across 30 cities, including major locations like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, and Ahmedabad.

How To Schedule Orders On Zomato

To utilise the new Order Scheduling feature on Zomato, simply open the app and look for the ‘Schedule’ option within the ‘All Restaurants’ section of the Delivery tab. After selecting it, you can choose your desired date and time, and Zomato will provide a list of restaurants available in your area.

Once you've selected your meal, add it to your cart. On the bill summary page, you’ll see a notification indicating that it is a scheduled delivery, along with a note that your order will be prepared shortly before your chosen delivery time. If your plans change and you no longer wish to receive the scheduled delivery, the app allows you to cancel your order up to three hours before the scheduled time.

Zomato emphasises that it is including only select restaurants that have consistently met kitchen preparation times. These restaurants will be informed in advance, ensuring they have ample time to prepare and deliver your order. It’s worth noting that Zomato began testing this feature back in August, but at that time, it was restricted to orders of Rs 1,000 or more and available only in certain cities.
