Xbox gamers are surely having a much-needed breather as the global banking and airline services reel under a major Microsoft outage. Since late Thursday, a Crowdstrike update has led to a massive downtime of the Redmon tech giant's cloud services across the world. From airline services in India to news channels in Australia have fallen victim to the messy situation, with the former having to switch to manual check-ins at airports.
As Microsoft spokesperson have confirmed that a fix is underway, and the matters may be resolved soon, it appears that Microsoft's own gaming platform is one of the first to have restored smooth operations once again.
Early on Thursday, several users (especially in the US) complained of Xbox Live not working. There were reports of server connectivity issues and party chat errors in leading games such as GTA Online, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Halo Infinite, World War Z, and Dead By Daylight.
Of course, this led to several gamers expressing their frustration on X (formerly Twitter) as well.
Xbox Status Now
At the time of writing, when Microsoft 365 issues are yet to be addressed, ABP Live could verify that Xbox services are working fine in both India and the US, as per the Xbox Support page.
The Xbox app appeared to be working fine as well both on PC and on consoles.
Fix Deployed
The massive outage has been attributed to a new content deployment from CrowdStrike. However, in a recent tweet, the cybersecurity firm's President & CEO George Kurtz confirmed that a fix is indeed underway.
" This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website," Kurtz tweeted.
For now, it's safe to expect that once the fix sets in place, the global reports of outages will go down soon.
