In good news for users who share sensitive information on WhatsApp, the messaging platform is working to bring the ability to send "view once" text messages to contacts. According to WhatsApp beta updates tracker WABetaInfo, the feature that would let WhatsApp users send view once message is under development and not available for WhatsApp beta users.

"After releasing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.25.20 update on the Play Store, we discovered something else about view once: WhatsApp is working on bringing the ability to send view once text messages to a future update," WABetaInfo wrote on its page.

WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the under-development feature on its page and added: "There is a new special button placed next to the chat bar. If you look at the send button carefully, you can notice there is a lock symbol within the button: it means you’re sending a view once text."

What is a view once text? The view once text will not be available to view more than once and disappear from the conversation after the recipient opens it once, hence it will not possible to read the view once text for a second time. "Note that, since this feature is under development, the layout of the view once text bubble and the send button may change before the release," WABetaInfo added.

The Meta-owned messaging platform has been introducing new features from time to time and this feature is also likely to be launched soon. WhatsApp recently started rolling out a picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for video calls for select lucky Apple iPhone users. Users that download the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.79 version update from the TestFlight app may get the PiP mode for WhatsApp video calls, WABetaInfo said.
