The world's most popular messaging platform WhatsApp is working to let users add up to 512 people to group chats, in a bid to add the ability to create larger groups, according to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo. This comes after WhatsApp added the ability to send documents up to 2GB in size on the recent versions of WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and desktop client.
"Last month, we posted news about the ability to add up to 512 people to groups on WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop. Unfortunately, the feature has only been released to a limited number of beta testers but something is changing today: WhatsApp is finally rolling out the feature to all users on the latest versions of the app," WABetaInfo wrote on its page.
WABetaInfo also posted screenshots on its page and according to that it is now finally possible to create groups on WhatsApp with 512 participants, but remember that the feature is available in beta only as of now. "...and you can also add them later by opening group info. If you want to verify if the feature is already enabled for your WhatsApp account, it is very easy to check it: just try to create a group and check how many people can be added to it. Note that this is not limited to the beta version of the app: people that install the most recent stable builds of WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and Desktop, can also create and join larger groups today," WABetaInfo added.
Earlier in May, along with message emoji reactions, the Meta-owned company also announced that users can now send files within WhatsApp up to 2GB in size at a time with end-to-end encryption. The previous limit of sending files within the platform was 100MB.
