WhatsApp releases updates to enhance its overall user experience and now the instant messaging platform is at it again. WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature for its added artificial intelligence chatbot MetaAI. According to reports, this update will allow users to send voice messages to the chatbot. As for now, MetaAI can only respond to messages in text format but after this update things will change for good. The feature is reportedly being rolled out to a small group of beta testers for now who will be able to use it.

In the coming weeks, WhatsApp may expand it to a larger user group.

WhatsApp New Features

According to a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the voice messages feature for Meta AI was recently spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10. Once this feature is rolled out, users enrolled in the Google Play Beta program will be able to tap the Meta AI button to access the chat interface, where a new voice message icon will appear.

This icon, similar to the one found in other chats and groups, is located next to the text field at the bottom. According to WABetaInfo's report, this will enable users to send voice messages to Meta AI, which can process the audio, understand the query, and generate a text response.

The said feature will be particularly useful for users who may find it inconvenient to type long questions but still need information quickly. It is especially beneficial for users who are frequently on the move. While Meta AI has always been multimodal with the capability to generate images, it has not previously supported audio generation or processing. This update could potentially change that.
