New Delhi: WhatsApp last seen feature tells users the last time their contacts used WhatsApp, and, now the Meta-owned (formerly Facebook) messaging platform is working to introduce a big change to this feature. WhatsApp is testing this feature for select beta testers and will let users hide their last seen from specific people, a move that many users have been waiting for.

According to beta tracker of WhatsApp, WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.21.23.14 brings more flexibility for users as they can choose who will be able to see their last seen information on WhatsApp.

"What’s that? In the past months, we have announced that WhatsApp was working to introduce a “My Contacts Except…” option for Last Seen (2.21.20.10), Profile Photo (2.21.21.2) and About (2.21.21.8). The feature was under development in those updates, but WhatsApp is finally rolling out this option for specific beta testers today," the report by WABetaInfo added.

The feature is expected to be soon rolled out for all the people using the beta. It could then be rolled out to then eventually to the version of the public version of WhatsApp that everyone's using. However, the global roll out may take months.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a report said that the messaging platform was working on a new Communities feature that will give admins more power over groups. The Communities feature appears to give the admins more power over groups. The new feature is speculated to grant admins the ability to invite new users via a Community Invite Link and then start messaging other members, according to WABetaInfo.
