WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform owned by Facebook-parent Meta, has introduced a new feature for iOS beta called "Push name within the chat list." Instead of seeing the phone numbers of unknown group members, beta testers will now see their push names within the chat list whenever they receive a message from them, as per reports by WABetaInfo. 


This new feature will make it easier for users to identify who the unknown contact is without needing to save their number as a new contact. It will be particularly useful for participants in large group chats where it can be challenging to keep track of who is who.

The feature is currently available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It is expected to roll out to more users in the coming days, according to the report.


In addition to this new feature, WhatsApp is also working on a new feature for iOS beta that will allow users to set an expiration date for groups. Users will be able to choose from various expiration options, such as one day, one week, or a custom date, when this feature is released.

WhatsApp is also working to introduce a feature that could help users avoid spam calls. The feature will reportedly bring the ability to silence calls from unknown numbers. However, such calls will still be visible in the notification centre and the calls list. 


To recall, the Meta-owned messaging platform had introduced its Communities feature. However, that also made WhatsApp numbers open to random calls and group chat invites, often from unknown users. WhatsApp lets its users report and block spammers, but there is no way to silence such calls. The Meta-owned company is working to solve this problem.
