Meta-owned WhatsApp is bringing new features that include landscape mode for making video calls for iOS and a new chat transfer feature. Another important feature that is rolling out for iPhone users is the ability to silence upcoming calls. According to WhatsApp beta update tracking website WABetaInfo, WhatsApp on iOS version 23.14.79 is introducing three much-anticipated features for iPhone users. It should be noted that migrating chat between two devices on WhatsApp is cumbersome due to the dependency on cloud backup.
With the new feature, it would be possible to move the chat history from one iPhone to another, without depending on iCloud. Thanks to the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.10.0.70 update, some users were able to experiment with a silence unknown callers option. In the past few days, WhatsApp for iOS 23.14.79 update was also released on the App Store. WABetaInfo has detailed the features in a screenshot.
According to the official changelog, improved navigation for a large set of avatar stickers is available, as reported before. It also highlights three new features: chat transfer, landscape mode support for video calls and the ability to silence unknown callers.
"While we already covered news regarding the chat transfer feature and the ability to silence unknown callers, the landscape mode support for video calls is definitely new. In our opinion, the landscape mode provides a broader and more expansive view of the video call interface compared to the portrait mode. Specifically, it allows call participants to see more people on the screen simultaneously, and we think it’s helpful when you’re part of a large group call," WABetaInfo wrote on its page.
To recall, Meta-owned WhatsApp made it faster and easier to transfer WhatsApp chat history between devices on the same operating system, starting Friday (June 30). For the first time, users on the world's most popular messaging platform were given the ability to transfer their complete chat and media history without having to exit the app between two devices on the same OS, which is Android to Android and iOS to iOS.
