Several new features for people to engage better on WhatsApp Channels are becoming official, company CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced. A notable inclusion is the capability to send voice updates on channels, mirroring the functionality of voice messages. Recognising voice as a convenient and personal communication method for many, introducing voice updates to WhatsApp Channels enables creators to establish a more intimate connection with their audience.


Zuckerberg made the  announcement on his WhatsApp Channel, along with a poll asking for a vote on the "best game of all time" -- “We're announcing a bunch of new features for WA channels including voice notes, multiple admins and sharing to status and polls, which is great because I need help settling a debate.”


Polls provide another avenue for WhatsApp Channels to engage with their followers. Now, Channels can generate polls for users to participate in, helping in the collection of feedback and assessing interest.

WhatsApp Channels is new way to get updates from people, organisations and teams users follow on the platform. To recall, in November last year, Zuckerberg announced that WhatsApp Channels has surpassed 500 million MAUs in seven weeks of launch. The company had announced the launch a new feature for Channels, Stickers, as it gained 500 MAUs.
