Twitter recently announced that starting on April 1, 2023, it would eliminate all old Blue verified checkmarks. Both individual users and corporations will be affected by this. Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced on Friday that the microblogging platform would eliminate all previous 'Twitter Blue' verified checkmarks for both individuals and organizations.

The billionaire entrepreneur stated that individual users can obtain blue verification for $7 a month if they sign up via a Web browser.

On the other hand, Twitter has rolled out, 'Twitter Verified Organizations' for organizations of all types–businesses, non-profits, and government institutions–to sign up and manage their verification and to affiliate and verify any related account. The company will charge companies $1,000 per month for its golden verified check mark.

According to Twitter, "Any organization that purchases a subscription to Verified Organizations will receive a gold checkmark and square avatar if they are a business or non-profit, or a grey checkmark and circular avatar if they are a governmental or multilateral organization."

In addition, organizations can choose to affiliate with any individual or entity associated with them. An affiliated account receives verification (denoted by either a blue, gold, or grey checkmark) as well as an affiliate badge, a small image of their parent company's profile picture, displayed next to their checkmark, the company said.

"Clicking or pressing this badge takes a user directly to the affiliated organization, making it a great driver of followers from your whole network on Twitter," it added.

Twitter Chief Elon Musk also informed about the same this week. He said, "Any individual person’s Twitter account affiliated with a verified organization is automatically verified."

However, there is a catch. Organizations will be charged an additional $50 per month for each associated account.

"A Twitter Verified Organizations subscription is $1,000/month (plus any applicable tax) and $50/month (plus any applicable tax) for each additional affiliate in the U.S. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change," Twitter said.

Twitter Business announced its verification for organizations program back in January. Sharing the information on the microblogging platform, Twitter Business wrote, “We will soon launch Verification for Organizations, formerly known as Blue for Business."

“As a subscriber, you and your business will receive business accounts and affiliation badges through our self-serve administrative portal." the company added in another tweet.
