New Delhi: Tesla chief executive Elon Musk on Friday announced postponing the electric carmaker’s second Artificial Intelligence Day from August 19 to September 30, and the company aims to produce a functioning humanoid robot within months. The tweet on prototype humanoid robot coming up by the end of September garnered more than 48,000 likes.




"Tesla AI Day pushed to Sept 30, as we may have an Optimus prototype working by then," Musk tweeted.






Tesla had introduced Optimis, a human-sized robot during Tesla's inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) Day in 2021. Elon Musk made a claim that one day Tesla bot will have, "the potential to be more significant than the vehicle business over time" .


At that time Musk added "physical work will be a choice". "Tesla is arguably the world’s biggest robotics company. Our cars are basically semi-sentient robots on wheels", he had said, according to Bloomberg report.

What is human-sized robot all about?


Optimus, a human-sized robot Musk, which is expected to be up and running in the coming months is expected to perform mundane tasks like grocery shopping, according to the report. Talking about Optimus at the AI event in 2021, the billionaire said the bot will be around 173 centimeters (5ft’8) tall, weigh around 57 kilograms with a carrying capacity of 20 kilograms. It will be controlled by the same artificial intelligence systems that Tesla is developing for use in its electric vehicles.


Also, known as Tesla Bot, the robotic humanoid will one day have “the potential to be more significant than the vehicle business over time,” Musk has said.


According to a presentation made at the AI event, Optimus is expected to be around 173 centimeters (5ft’8) tall, weigh around 57 kilograms and have a carrying capacity of 20 kilograms. It will be controlled by the same artificial intelligence systems that Tesla is developing for use in its electric vehicles.
