Elon Musk has been bringing in several changes to Twitter following his hostile $44-billion takeover last year. While some changes, such as the monetisation of the blue tick, might not be appreciated by everyone, some changes are indeed handy and demanded by users for years. One of them, the ability to post texts in bold and italics, could be introduced soon, as confirmed by none other than the new CEO himself.
On Monday, user greg (@greg16676835420) — who is an investor and creator of the NFT collection called “The Multiverse of gregs” — tweeted that Musk had said that users will “soon be able” to bold and italicize on Twitter.
To this, Musk replied, “Any minute now.”
It should be noted that you can still post bold or italicised text on Twitter, but by using external Unicode text tools (several are easily found online), which use HTML codes to generate tweet text in italics or bold.
However, if you wish to tweet in bold or italics, you won’t find any option within the text input box, irrespective of using the mobile app or the Web version.
As mentioned earlier, the change is part of Twitter’s push to deliver handy new features and tools to make the overall user experience of the microblogging platform better.
Yet another much-asked-for feature is also on its way to the platform, as confirmed by Musk. Long-form tweets — posts that go beyond the stipulate 280-character limit — will be rolled out in early February, the billionaire entrepreneur confirmed on Twitter.
Apart from that, the platform has also introduced several other changes, most recently the ability to easily swipe left or right between recommended and followed tweets, which Musk said on Sunday will be rolled out this week, as part of a “much larger UI overhaul.”
