Google may launch its next flagship Pixel series of smartphones soon after the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 15 series. Google is likely to stick to its usual launch schedule and if there's no change in that, we may see the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 handsets officially being unveiled at a special event in California in October. There have been several leaks and rumours pertaining to the Pixel 8 series and the latest leak suggests that the lineup would launch in October.

EU Wants Handheld Gaming Consoles To Have Replaceable Batteries


Days after officially agreeing upon new regulations that require smartphone makers to design their devices to let users easily replace the batteries on them, a new rule in the European Union (EU) is in place that would require handheld consoles to have easily replaceable batteries. According to a report by Eurogamer, new handheld gaming consoles would require to be fitted with replaceable batteries from 2027. This means next-gen models of the Nintendo Switch Steam Deck would need to be launched with replaceable batteries by 2027.

Trump-Founded Truth Social's Head Of Engineering Quits


The head of engineering responsible for overseeing the development of former US President Donald Trump's Truth Social app has confirmed his resignation, dealing a setback to the project, reported Reuters. Alex Gleason's departure comes at a time of ongoing uncertainty for Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind the app. Truth Social was launched as a means for Trump to connect with his base after being banned from major social media platforms following the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.

BlueSky Under Fire For Allowing Usernames With Racial Slurs


Jack Dorsey-backed BlueSky which is in the middle of a controversy as many users are threatening to quit the Twitter rival. BlueSky has apparently failed to flag slurs in account usernames due to which several protesting users are protesting. Among those protesting against BlueSky are many people of colour who are "frustrated that Bluesky hasn’t apologised for allowing racial slurs to slip through its moderation tools even though they violate the platform’s community guidelines", says a report by TechCrunch.

Redmi 12 Colour Variants Leaked


Redmi 12 is set to be officially unveiled in India on August 1. The phone was earlier launched in June in several regions globally. The handset is likely to be launched in the affordable smartphone category which is not seeing a lot of launches these days. The Redmi 12 would go on sale on e-commerce platform Amazon.in and Flipkart. A new leak suggests that the phone would be launched in two colourways in India. The device has already been released in Thailand and a few other markets, globally.

US Chipmakers Hold Discussions With Biden Admin Over China Policy


Executives from prominent US chip companies held discussions with top officials from the Joe Biden administration on Monday to address China policy, according to sources and the State Department, reported Reuters. Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged in conversations with chief executives from chip companies to gain insights into the industry and supply chains, following his recent visit to China. Additionally, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard, and National Security Council Director Jake Sullivan met with representatives from Intel, Qualcomm, and Nvidia, as revealed by a source familiar with the meetings.
