Tata Group Set To Be First Indian iPhone Maker
Tata Group is close to signing an agreement with key Apple supplier Wistron to acquire its factory in Karnataka, marking the first Indian company to enter into iPhone assembly space, reported Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. The potential deal could materialise as soon as August, as per the report. It was earlier reported that the Taiwanese electronics company is preparing to wind down its operations in India after a successful business stint spanning over fifteen years.
Nothing Phone (2) Launched
Carl Pei's consumer tech brand Nothing on Tuesday launched Phone (2), its flagship smartphone and a successor to last year's Nothing Phone (1). The Nothing Phone (2) brings some notable changes, such as the new Glyph Interface at the back, which aims to let users minimise screen interactions by accessing key information at a glance, revamped Nothing OS 2.0, and top-tier Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, among others. This is the first premium device from Nothing that comes with a 50MP dual rear camera.
Instagram Threads Getting Edit Button
Instagram Threads is set to introduce an edit button, which is currently missing, and other features such as Twitter-like hashtags and a trending page, among others. According to Adam Mosseri, Instagram head, these upcoming features are confirmed to arrive on Threads. It should be noted that hashtag is how a topic trends on Twitter and this is missing on Instagram Threads as of now. Meta's other suite of apps like Instagram and Facebook have supported hashtags for many years.
Foxconn To Apply For Chipmaking Incentives In India
A day after Taiwanese firm Foxconn parted ways with Vedanta Ltd on a $19.5 billion semiconductor joint venture (JV), the company on Tuesday said it plans to apply for incentives that India is offering under its chip manufacturing policy, a Reuters report said. "Foxconn is committed to India and sees the country successfully establishing a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem," the company said. "Foxconn is working toward submitting an application," the report said.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE With SD 888 Launched
After several leaks and rumours, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE with Snapdragon 888 chipset was quietly launched in India. The new model in the popular Galaxy Fan Edition (FE) series will go on retail in the country starting tomorrow (July 11) via online stores and it was made available on brick and mortar stores today. As widely expected, the South Korean tech giant has unveiled the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S21 FE in India in only one storage configuration. The SD variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
