Apple Watch Ultra 2, Series 9 Unavailable At Retail Stores In US


Apple has stopped sale of its Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 sales at its retail stores in the US and when Apple Stores reopen after Christmas, these two Watches will not be available for purchase. The tech giant pulled its latest flagship smartwatches due to an import ban imposed by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) over a patent dispute with medical device maker Masimo. Following the removal of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 from Apple’s online store last week, the two devices are also no longer available at its physical locations.


Fossil Unlikely To Launch WearOS-Powered Smartwatches


In 2021, Fossil introduced its final WearOS-driven smartwatch, the Fossil Gen 6. Despite the growing popularity of Google's wearable operating system through newer releases like WearOS 4, Fossil has refrained from significant updates to its WearOS-based smartwatch range. According to a recent report, there are indications that the company might have completely abandoned the development of WearOS-based smartwatches.


China To Give Consular Assistance To Vivo Employees Arrested In India


A spokesperson from China's foreign ministry stated that China will offer consular protection and support to two Chinese employees of handset maker Vivo, who were detained by Indian authorities, says a report by news agency Reuters. The spokesperson also urged India to avoid discrimination against Chinese companies. The arrests came two months after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested four industry executives, including a Chinese national, working for Vivo's Indian unit in a case of alleged money laundering, charges the firm has denied.


Xiaomi Says It Will Showcase EV Tech This Week


Xiaomi has intentions to venture into the electric vehicle (EV) market in 2021, with an initial projection of unveiling its debut EV in 2024. Recently, Xiaomi confirmed its plan to showcase its EV technology at an upcoming event. Now, the smartphone OEM has confirmed that it is set to showcase its EV technology for the first time at an event which will be held soon.
