A recent analysis conducted by The Daily Beast revealed that a minimum of 31 Twitter employees had registered accounts on Meta's Threads, a new social media platform. The publication randomly selected 133 Twitter employees based on their LinkedIn profiles and cross-referenced them with Threads accounts, although independent verification of this information was not possible.
According to The Daily Beast, one Twitter staffer who used Threads expressed admiration for Meta's Twitter clone, stating that it was superior. "I'm going to get fired for this, but I work at Twitter right now and have never really used it. Threads is just better," the employee reportedly wrote.
“[Not gonna lie] the signup flow was really nice,” another employee said.
The analysis also suggested that other Twitter employees were merely exploring the competition, as evidenced by one user posting a simple "Test 1."

Notably, former Twitter employees have also been joining Threads. Esther Crawford, a former Twitter executive who gained attention after a photo of her sleeping on the office floor circulated, has registered an account on the platform. Crawford shared one of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's comments directed at Elon Musk and added her own remark, finding it amusing. She also referenced her previous workplace and the current CEO of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino, commenting on the stress of dealing with a public meltdown that cannot be controlled or stopped.
Threads, developed by Meta, has quickly gained popularity among users and poses a potential threat to Twitter. Leveraging its association with Instagram, Threads attracted 100 million users within five days of its launch.
Meanwhile, Threads is set to introduce an edit button, which is currently missing, and other features such as Twitter-like hashtags and a trending page, among others. According to Adam Mosseri, Instagram head, these upcoming features are confirmed to arrive on Threads. It should be noted that hashtag is how a topic trends on Twitter and this is missing on Instagram Threads as of now. Meta's other suite of apps like Instagram and Facebook have supported hashtags for many years.
While responding to a query related to the "Following" tab, the Instagram head said: "We're working on it, but the next week is all about getting rid of bugs and keeping the lights on..."
"We've got to build a following feed over the next couple weeks, but I do think a lot of why people are getting so much engagement right now is because you don't need to follow a bunch of people in order to discover a bunch of new accounts in feed," Mosseri added while replying.
