Tesla CEO Elon Musk took a tasteless swipe at pop star Taylor Swift after she publicly endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for the upcoming US presidential election. Musk, known for his provocative comments, sarcastically tweeted, “Fine Taylor... you win... I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life," in response to Swift signing off her endorsement post as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady.”

What Did Taylor Swift Post?

Swift's endorsement came shortly after Vice President Kamala Harris's debate against former President Donald Trump. The multiple Grammy-winnig singer, addressing her 283 million Instagram followers, declared her support for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, calling Harris a “steady-handed, gifted leader” who could bring calm to the nation.

Swift's post, featuring her holding a cat, was seen as a retort to the “childless cat ladies” comment made by JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, about Harris.

Musk’s jab at Swift is not an isolated incident; the Tesla chief has a history of controversial remarks.

Last year, he ridiculed Paris Hilton when she pulled her “Be an Icon” kitchenware ads from X, Musk’s social media platform, following his backing of a post containing anti-Semitic content. Musk tweeted dismissively, suggesting Hilton’s ads were not convincing because he doubted she cooks.

Several major advertisers, including Disney, IBM, and NBCUniversal, withdrew their ads from the platform amid the controversy. While Musk apologised for some of the insensitive content, he also told advertisers to "go f**k yourself."
