Tamil Nadu Teams Up With Google To Explore AI Initiatives, To Set Up TN AI Labs In Chennai

The state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google on Saturday (August 31) to explore AI initiatives.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been flourishing acrss the globe for quite some time now with the technology making rapid developments in the past two years. People and nations are trying to get on this wagon to benefit from its advantages and become tomorrow's leaders. India is no different. Recently, the Tamil Nadu government teamed up with Google to explore AI partnerships in the state. As a part of this, a new facility called 'Tamil Nadu AI Labs' will also be set up in the state. 

The state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google on Saturday (August 31), according to a statement released by the Minister of Industries. Apart from this partnership with Google, Tamil Nadu has also inked five other deals with firms like Nokia, PayPal, and Infinix to set up centres in cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, and Chennai.

How Will This Partnership With Google Shape Tamil Nadu

Dr. TRB Rajaa, the Minister for Industries, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the state government signed a memorandum of understanding with Google on Saturday, coinciding with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's visit to the US. The minister also revealed plans for establishing the Tamil Nadu AI Labs facility in Chennai. In collaboration with Guidance, the state's investment agency, Google will focus on integrating AI technology into startups, MSMEs, and rural areas.

The minister highlighted that this partnership will allow the Tamil Nadu government to provide AI training to 2 million youth through the Naan Mudhalvan upskilling platform. Additionally, startups in the region will benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities, while MSMEs will have access to Google Cloud's AI technology via an open network marketplace.
